The Field of Cosmic Consciousness by Paul Mulliner

Paul Mulliner is an artist and writer living in London. "Each one of us is cosmic consciousness continuously transforming itself into the cluster of dynamic processes that characterise a living being."
May 12, 2009

Paul Mulliner A field of cosmic consciousness exists everywhere in the Universe including within us, within our brain and throughout our body. It’s there within all of us, around us and between us, providing us with our capacity to know consciousness, allowing us to connect with each other.

This cosmic consciousness field, which fills all space everywhere, continuously transforms itself into the streaming flows of information-pattern which we interpret with our senses as the branch of a tree or the shape of a flower.

Within our brains and bodies, it’s continuously transforming cosmic energy into the streaming emergence of dynamic information we call cell biochemistry. We’re being continuously generated and regenerated by a cosmic field-intelligence in all space in the Universe.

The awareness we know inside ourselves, our personal awareness of being alive and human, is our personal knowing of cosmic consciousness, coloured or flavoured moment by moment, by a stream of sensory information from our senses of sight, hearing and touch.

We can become more aware of cosmic consciousness if we take our attention inward, into the inner core of ourselves and tune in to it. Doing this helps us find a source of intuitive guidance for our day to day life, which can help us become better at making appropriate life choices and find a life we’re happy with.

We’re also able to sense the knowing-presence of this all-including, connective field-intelligence in all space, which helps us feel at home in the world and joined into the whole of everything occurring everywhere.

When we lose this sense of connection into everything that is, this feeling of being intimately included within the whole of everything occurring moment by moment, we can begin to feel separate and alone and unhappy.

We can forget the larger, cosmic dimension of ourselves as we become entranced by the events of our day and our attention becomes focussed entirely in the world around us.

Our conscious awareness can slip out of the flow of high-tune energies which characterise cosmic consciousness and we begin to lose contact with the intuitive intelligence and knowingness which we can sense when we’re more in touch with it.

Reconnecting into the whole has to do with re-tuning ourselves. We’ve temporarily slipped out of tune with the field of consciousness which is bringing us into being continuously from out of itself.

As we take our attention inward, into our body and in particular into the inner core of ourselves, we can begin the process of re-tuning. We can begin to know again the sense of connection into a living whole which includes all of us within itself.

Our personal consciousness, our moment by moment awareness, is a partial knowing of the cosmic consciousness which is continuously expressing itself as all of us everywhere.

When we die, we dissolve into this one-being and know it to have always been at the core of our experience of being human while we were alive.

We realise that eternal cosmic consciousness in all space, which knows everything occurring everywhere as one knowing, is present and aware during the birth and death of all of us.

As our human life ends, we know ourselves to have always been this cosmic consciousness, taking on human form for a while and experiencing a human life.
