Carole Hart is an award-winning television and film producer/writer. She began her career in television working with her partner and husband, Bruce Hart, as one of the original writers of Sesame Street, for which she won her first Emmy. She also produced, with Marlo Thomas, Free to Be ... You and Me, the now classic children’s album, best-selling book and Peabody Award-winning television special. She and Bruce created and produced Hot Hero Sandwich, an innovative Emmy-winning NBC series for adolescents. Her credits also include a number of movies and docudramas made for television: Sooner or Later, a movie musical that generated a top ten song and a Platinum soundtrack album: Leap of Faith, a groundbreaking docudrama about a woman who brought her cancer into remission through alternative means; and again teamed with Marlo Thomas, a multi-award winning mixed-media documentary for Lifetime Television, Our Heroes, Ourselves.

Carole Hart is an award-winning director, producer, writer. She began her career as one of the original writers of Sesame Street, then moved on to other programming for children, including the best-selling Free to Be…You and Me, a record album, book and television special. She also produced a number of movies for television. Most recently, Carole is completing a feature documentary entitled For the Next 7 Generations.

The documentary tells the story of Thirteen Indigenous Grandmothers (shamans, medicine women, and healers) from all parts of the world who came together in 2004 to form a council: The International Council of Thirteen Indigenous Grandmothers. Since then, they have traveled together around the world –from Dharmasala, India, to the Amazon Rain forest, to mountains of Oaxaca, Mexico, and more. Carole and her cameras have accompanied these woman, documenting their travels, their prayers, and how they have touched and changed the lives of those around them.

In this podcast, Carole Hart speaks with Merryn Jose   about the story behind the gathering of the Thirteen Grandmothers. She also discusses how the film, 'The Next 7 Generations', came to be. Carole talks about her extraordinary healing of a terminal illness. She focuses, however, on the production of the documentary, the profundity of the film, and more.
