On the Threshhold

I am pleased to introduce our new senior editor, Cheryl Shainmark. Cheryl has a background as a writer and a certified hypnotherapist, and has contributed numerous articles and book reviews to Merlian News over the last several years. In addition to her editing duties, Cheryl will write a regular column, “Liminal Moments,” starting in June.

The liminal, or the idea of being on the threshhold between two states, seems to surround us right now. It’s Spring and yet still chilly at night; we’re poised for an election this fall but we can only guess at the outcome; we read the tea leaves for signs of economic recovery, and then hunker down and watch our dollars. Finally, we countdown the remaining months of the Mayan calendar for 2012, and wonder what the New Epoch will reveal.
