My 100 Day Gong

Just recently I completed what is known in Qi Gong as a 100 day “gong” or practice of doing the same exercise, every day without fail. I had been doing Qi Gong off and on for a year or two, but a few months ago I decided that if I was going to gain the benefits of this practice, I really needed to do it every day. I had been reading and studying the online courses of Mingtong Gu and Luke Chan who both studied in China under Pang Ming, the founder of Qi Gong, and the director of the largest medicineless hospital in the world. I read Wisdom Healing (Zhineng) Qigong by Master Mingtong Gu, and I watched Luke Chan’s DVD 101 Miracles of Natural Healing, and finally I decided to make the commitment to a 100 day practice.

Within a short while of starting the gong, I found that I was sleeping better, had increased vitality, and was calmer through out the day. Over time I noticed that the changes were impacting every phase of my life: my digestion and overall health improved — I used to have serious digestive issues, which I’m glad to say have completely disappeared. My attitudes shifted in positive ways, causing me to attract even more beneficial energy and people into my life. Simply the act of doing the same thing every day led to a sense of discipline, purpose, and accomplishment. What started as just a health regime turned into something that I now look forward to excitedly every day.

All of which is to say that, now that I’ve finished my 100 Day Gong, I haven’t stopped doing it. Now in addition to my one daily exercise, I’ve added more and signed up for the online courses with Master Gu. I have learned that Qi Gong teaches that with practice you can connect to the primordial “Chi” field for strength and healing. I found this to be true, and that regular practice made it easier to deal with people and events from a place of strength. The specific exercise that I do may change in the future, but my 100 days will now be a life-long practice.
