A “Go To” book for me: Save Our Bones by Vivian Goldschmidt

People ask me sometimes, “What are your sources?” or, “What are the ‘Go To’ books for you?” There are several, but one of the key books for me is “Save Our Bones” by Vivian Goldschmidt, M.A. This is a fantastic book that I turn to over and over again.

“Save Our Bones” was written as an alternative program for those, like me, who do not wish to take drugs to prevent osteoporosis and other bone deficiencies. This book has helped me to understand the body’s alkaline/acid balance and the foods that “steal” bone density. Ms. Goldschmidt not only identifies the culprits, she outlines the foods and supplements needed to stop and even reverse bone loss. There are simple exercises as well that help to increase bone density. Having follow her regimen for some time now, as well as the instruction from professional trainer and intuitive, Kerry Roland, I am pleased to report that I, too, have regained bone density in my last scans.

Ms. Goldschmidt questions the efficacy of the standard drugs, such as Fosamax, Reclast, Evista, Boniva and others, and highlights the hidden and unreported dangers of taking these drugs. In the last few years, the major media have begun to catch on and question the claims of Big Pharma, running stories that highlight the reports of weakened, brittle, and broken bones that result from taking these drugs. More recently, in her newsletters Goldschmidt has addressed the problems with GMO’s in our foods and how that affects bone density. It’s topics like these that for me, only underscore the need for reliable, sound advice such as that found in the newsletters and in “Save Our Bones.”
