Humane Farming Assoc. Announces Unprecedented Drop in Veal Sales

The Humane Farming Association (HFA) is the nation’s leading farm animal protection organization. They have been instrumental in securing the first ever felony convictions of veal industry leaders, blocking a major pig factory, and conducting the nation’s largest farm animal rescue. Recently, the HFA announced a new achievement: an unprecedented drop in the sale of factory-farmed veal. “It is with good reason that The New York Times declared our National Veal Boycott the most successful animal rights boycott in the United States. We are pleased to report that, again this year, HFA’s signature campaign has driven per capita veal consumption in the U.S. to an all-time low!”

HFA, and their subsidiary, HFA Cares, are responsible for forming the “Certified Humane” standards and inspection, making them the leading non-profit certification organization dedicated to improving the lives of farm animals in food production from birth through slaughter. When you see the Certified Humane Raised and Handled® label on a product you can be assured that the food products have come from facilities that meet precise, objective standards for farm animal treatment.

The HFA also run Suwanna Ranch, the world’s largest hands-on emergency care and refuge facility for abused farm animals. Unfortunately, there is still much work to be done and many animals that need our help. If you are interested in donating, volunteering or shopping responsibly to show your support, here are some ideas from their website, www.certifiedhumane.org :
