Merryn’s Musings by Merryn Jose
The Element of Uncertainty
Many years ago I used to make a living reading the Tarot cards, and teaching others how to do it. Coming from a long line of psychics, I grew up watching my Mum give readings from tea leaves and cards as well. Early on my mother taught me that people want to hear about their love life, their houses, their kids and their careers. Not only that, but she also said, “People want to hear certainty and specific outcomes — when will I meet the love of their life? When will I get a promotion? What is the best house for me?” I found that while I enjoyed helping people, I felt the burden of responsibility for not misguiding them or being so directive that they ignored other possibilities.

The Voice of Your Higher Self
I learned over time that this is the sound of my higher self. Sometimes it’s barely there in the background, pointing me in the right direction with a nudge or a song lyric, or a bit of humor and love. Other times she comes through loud and clear with precise instructions or suggestions. No topic is too large or too small to engage my higher self, and the range of comments over the years have both startled and amused me.

Lately we’ve been reading serious accounts of just these events. Our favorite new website is www.issc-taste.org . Originally created by Charles Tart, the website has become a real resource and a treasure house of true stories of scientist’s mystical experiences. The stories are fascinating and many readers who have had similar experiences will recognise the details of the events recounted.

How to Help Prevent Macular Degeneration by Marc Grossman, O.D., L.Ac
The Western diet, high in fats, is associated with a higher risk of macular degeneration. Researchers have found that a high fat diet gives rise to weak gut microbiota resulting in poor digestion and long-range, low-grade inflammation in the entire body. These factors appear to be the source of high rates of AMD in men who are overweight.
